SB 1013, which did not pass, would have repealed the statute that requires an individual’s driver’s license to be suspended if they fail to immediately pay their fines and fees. It also would have required the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles to return or reinstate any person’s driver’s license that was suspended solely for failure to pay fines and fees. However, the bill did require individuals to pay Virginia’s $145 reinstatement fee before their licenses are reinstated.
