Campaign Strategist

Fatima Monteiro is the Campaign Strategist on the National Advocacy Team at the Fines & Fees Justice Center, where she helps lead national campaigns to end harmful fines and fees policies. She works to center the voices of directly impacted people in advocacy efforts and builds strategic pathways to drive meaningful, community-rooted policy change.

Fatima brings over five years of experience in the criminal legal reform space, with past roles at the John Howard Association, From Prison Cells to PhD, and as a project manager on national research initiatives focused on prison healthcare, reentry, and economic justice. She has led community engagement efforts, facilitated focus groups, and supported policy development at both the state and national levels.

Originally from Boston and now based in Chicago, Fatima is a mom of three and a proud wife. She recently completed her undergraduate degree and is continuing her education by pursuing a master’s in public policy to further her commitment to transformative justice.
