National Work
FFJC’s National Advocacy and Campaigns Team builds power from the ground-up, partnering with and supporting bipartisan, state-based coalitions to advance our two national campaigns: Free to Drive and End Justice Fees.
We create sustainable infrastructure—crafting campaign strategies, deploying strategic and technical assistance, and leveraging our field-defining policy and research expertise—to empower state advocates, policymakers, and other allies to lead this work.
Our mission is to strengthen the movement that, for over a decade, has challenged and dismantled the laws, policies, and culture that prioritize revenue over justice—to end the economic harm that fines and fees impose on people and communities, and the debilitating consequences of debt that force people into impossible choices and cycles of poverty and incarceration.
Each year, our team works across more than a dozen states, pushing forward comprehensive, unapologetically bold legislation to end debt-based drivers license suspensions and eliminate fees across the criminal justice system. We count our wins not just in the bills we help pass, but also in the regressive policies we defeat, the fluency and nuance with which policymakers understand and champion these issues, and the longevity of our allies’ commitment to Free to Drive and End Justice Fees.
