In keeping with the recommendations of the Fair Justice for All Task Force, the Arizona Judicial Council adopted a court rule change to assist defendants in paying their fines and fees.
This new rule requires Arizona courts to offer payment plans for those who are unable to immediately pay their fines and fees. The rule also requires ability to pay determinations when fines and fees are imposed and gives judges discretion to reduce court debt owed by a defendant by providing credit for time served, credit for community service, or a reduction or waiver of fines and fees.
