Justin Terrell
As the Executive Director of the Minnesota Justice Research Center (MNJRC), Justin Terrell has focused on building a balanced and rigorous research program aimed at equipping Minnesotans with the information and tools needed to transform the punitive criminal legal system. Through research, education and policy development the MNJRC aims to bring systems into stronger alignment with commonly held values associated with justice and racial equity (more information at www.mnjrc.org).
Terrell began his career serving youth and families in crisis utilizing his degree in social work to help meet the basic human needs of all people. In 2012 he became a community organizer and led several successful campaigns on criminal justice issues such as fair hiring practices (Ban the Box 2013), keeping private prisons out of Minnesota (2015) and the restoration of voting rights (2012- 2023).
