Arizona HB 2033

The Arizona legislature introduced a bill repealing provisions related to the imposition of juvenile fees.

Key provisions: 

  • Repeals the provision requiring the court to order a parent or guardian with sufficient financial resources to reimburse the costs of an appointed attorney.
  • Prohibits the court from ordering the parent or guardian to pay the cost of any counseling, treatment or education program ordered.
  • Prohibits the court from ordering the child or the child’s parent or guardian from bearing the charge, expense and maintenance including food, clothing, shelter and supervision of the child while the child is detained in a juvenile facility.
