Key Provisions
- If an individual has $300 or more of unpaid fines, and the court determines that the individual is unable to pay, they qualify to enter into a payment plan. The bill specifies that monthly payments should be equal to 10% of the total amount of fines and fees owed under the payment plan.
- Individuals with suspended driver’s licenses who enter into the payment plan agreement will have their driver’s license reinstated by the Motor Vehicle Administration. Licenses can be re-suspended if a payment is missed.
- Traffic citations must provide notice that a payment plan is available in lieu of full, immediate payment of fines and fees.
