Cortney Sanders is Policy Analyst for the University of Michigan’s Poverty Solutions initiative, and previously served as Senior Manager of State and Policy Analysis at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBBP).

Sanders is an experienced policy analyst and consultant with deep knowledge in racial equity and intersectionality. Sanders’ work focuses on state tax and budget policy, criminal legal fines and fees, youth justice reform and reinvestment, K-12 education, unemployment, wealth, community informed research and the intersection of race and equity in public systems. She has spoken to audiences and consulted organizations across the country around the intersections of race, gender, and class to advance social justice. She currently serves on the Fair Budget Coalition and The Polichic Engagement Fund board and is an alumni and national conference speaker of Young People For, a program of People for the American Way Foundation. Sanders holds a bachelor’s degree in Government from the University of Texas, Austin and a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
