On Thursday, November 29, FFJC Co-Director Lisa Foster participated in a New York Law School panel discussion entitled “The Criminalization of Poverty.” The panel was moderated by Beth Fertig of WNYC News, and Lisa was joined by Georgetown University Law Professor Peter Edelman, ACLU Racial Justice Deputy Director Nusrat Choudhury, and NYC CCoC’s Robert Robinson.
During the panel, discussion centered around the intersections of poverty and mass incarceration, with particular attention paid to fines and fees and bail reform.
