The Michigan legislature introduced a package of bills that would prohibit juvenile courts from assessing and collecting fines and fees from juveniles or their families. The bills eliminate diversion program costs for juveniles, court costs and attorney’s fees for juveniles, fees for court-ordered DNA assessment for juveniles, late fees for juveniles, and liability for fees for both juveniles and their parents.
